2026 Conference Breakout Session Submissions

Join us this fall for the 2026 New England Rural Health Association (NERHA) Annual Conference, where we’ll explore how innovation, collaboration, and community are shaping the future of rural health. Returning to New Hampshire for the first time in years, we’re excited to welcome 400+ rural health professionals to Concord, surrounded by scenic forests and trails; the perfect setting to reconnect, reflect, and reimagine the threads that bind our work.

We invite you to share your work at the 2026 New England Rural Health Association Annual Conference on November 17–18 in Concord, New Hampshire.

This year’s theme. “Weaving Transformation into the Rural Fabric”, highlights the power of connection, collaboration, and innovation in strengthening rural health. We are seeking breakout sessions that reflect how ideas, partnerships, and practices are being woven together to create meaningful change across rural communities.

Whether you are advancing new models of care, addressing persistent challenges, or building stronger systems through collaboration, we encourage you to contribute your perspective to this shared conversation.

The NERHA Conference Committee will review all submissions and invite selected presenters to a presentation block.

Session Formats

To support a range of voices and presentation styles, we offer several session formats designed to interweave knowledge-sharing and engagement. Not sure which format fits your idea? Select the one that feels closest and our review committee may recommend adjustments.

  • Two related presentations are thoughtfully grouped around a shared theme, offering complementary perspectives on a common topic. Each presenter will have approximately 20–25 minutes, followed by time for joint discussion and audience Q&A. This format is ideal for showcasing how different approaches can be woven together to address similar challenges. The NERHA conference committee will pair sessions together at their discretion.

    Best for:

    • Presentation that can be done within a half hour setting.

    • Comparing different approaches, models, or case studies

    • Topics that benefit from multiple perspectives within a shared theme

  • A traditional standalone presentation or panel-style talk led by one or more speakers. This format is well-suited for research findings, case studies, program overviews, or in-depth explorations of a specific topic. Sessions are approximately one hour, including time for audience questions and discussion.

    Best for:

    • Research presentations or evaluations

    • Program deep-dives or case studies

    • Established initiatives with clear outcomes or lessons learned

  • A moderated discussion featuring multiple speakers who bring diverse perspectives to a shared topic. Panelists engage in guided conversation, followed by audience Q&A. This format is ideal for exploring complex issues, highlighting cross-sector collaboration, and bringing multiple voices together into a shared dialogue.

    Best for:

    • Multi-organization or cross-sector topics

    • Policy discussions or emerging issues

    • Conversations that benefit from varied lived or professional perspectives

  • An interactive, conversation-driven session focused on shared challenges, emerging issues, or collective problem-solving. Facilitators guide the discussion while encouraging active audience participation. This format works best for topics that benefit from peer exchange and collaborative insight-building.

    Best for:

    • Peer learning and knowledge exchange

    • Early-stage ideas or shared challenges

    • Topics where audience input is as valuable as presenter expertise

  • A hands-on, highly engaging session designed for skill-building, strategy development, or practical application. Workshops may include activities, breakout discussions, or guided exercises, allowing participants to actively contribute and leave with tangible tools and ideas they can bring back to their communities.

    Best for:

    • Skill-building or training-focused sessions

    • Toolkits, frameworks, or implementation strategies

    • Sessions with clear takeaways or actionable outcomes

  • A fast-paced session featuring multiple short presentations (typically 10–15 minutes each) centered around a common theme. This format allows presenters to share emerging ideas, innovative projects, or snapshots of their work in a concise and engaging way. Lightning sessions are designed to spark curiosity, surface new connections, and weave together a range of perspectives in a short amount of time.

    Best for:

    • Early-stage projects or pilot programs

    • Students or first-time presenters

    • Sharing quick insights, ideas, or lessons learned

    • Presenters who prefer a shorter, more focused format
